Losing Aunt Kaye just over three months ago has inspired me to take a closer look at my life and where it is headed.
I am determined to apply lessons I learned from Kaye as I move forward with the next chapter of my life.
In honor of what she wanted for me based on conversations and words she left behind, I took a leap of faith and resigned from my job on Feb. 2. I am going to be reflecting on what her wishes were, applying wisdom she shared with me over the years, and charting a new and healthier course.
I have a lot more to share about Kaye and my gratitude for her and for Dan, and I plan to write about it in the future. For now, I am focusing on my journey away from the trauma that has all but consumed me for the past couple of years. I may share more details about past and more recent trauma in the future, too.
Right now, I am working on a letter to myself. I am still figuring out what to say, but I know it will come.
I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to have some truly wonderful people in my life right now. I will be leaning on family, friends and a therapist I trust to help me make sense of this chapter of love, gratitude and growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I’m not sure how long it will be until I begin to search in earnest for another job – financially, it likely won’t be too many weeks before I feel the pinch. But for now, focusing on Kaye and recent lessons learned are all I have on my agenda.
